Preliminary and Final Benefits for New Retirees
Upon retirement, retirees receive initial notice confirming their preliminary pension amount. Generally, it takes three to four months for the pension to be finalized. At that time, a second notice is mailed to the retiree, confirming the final pension amount. - https://www.nhrs.org/retirees/retirement-connection-blog

It normally takes 90 days for final payroll information to be submitted by your public employer and then processed and posted to your account. As a result, the initial calculation of your allowance and payment will be a preliminary amount. Within approximately six months of your effective date of retirement, a complete audit of your account, including all calculations, will be conducted - https://www.nvpers.org/sites/default/files/2019-08/regPreRtr... - page 10

What is the difference between Preliminary Benefit and Finalized Benefit?
For the first several months, you are paid a preliminary benefit based on the information NHRS had at the time you retired. Your employer will be reporting your final service and salary amounts to NHRS, so your finalized benefit can be calculated. If your finalized benefit is higher than the preliminary amount, you will receive a retroactive payment at the time you are finalized.

interim (pension/retirement) pay/payment
Interim pay is a portion of your estimated annuity payment (approximately 60–80% of your finalized net payment for most people). It is intended to help cover expenses while OPM is processing your case. Interim payments do not include deductions for health benefits, life insurance, dental, vision, or long-term care.
