Universal Joint Inspection
(10) Grasp the propeller shaft firmly with both hands near the universal joint.
(11) Exert pressure in the four directions shown (Figure 7.3.4-2).
(12) Check the universal joint for the following:
(a) Free play between the spider and needle roller bearings,
(b) Movement of the needle roller cup inside the yoke bore,
(c) Signs of corrosion or seizure in the needle roller bearings.
(13) No free play must be detected. The universal joint must be renewed if found defective.
(14) Movement of the needle roller bearing cup inside the yoke bore is indicated with scratch marks made by the circlip rubbing against the cup.
