When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

: Perhaps saying it's a 'one off' venture would work. I've just been told that this comment is offensive and non linguistic ! A mistake?!

Presumably, this is talking about film director Tim Burton, noted for his dark 'Gothic' (not to mention Gotham!) style — in which case, reading between the lines, we might assume that he departs from his usual 'Gothic' style just long enough to make one film in a different style.
But I assume once the syntax is unravelled, Asker herself should be able to make a suitable sentence to fit it all together — it's just not the way we'd naturally express this idea in EN, so it will need to be completely parapharsed, which is outside the scope of this terminology forum!
Completely agree with you - I was struggling with the syntax and this has been incredibly helpful! I have noticed things getting pretty heated on ProZ recently - a product of certain people spending too much time alone over the past two years?! Thanks very much for your help, I'll 'massage' my sentence now and let you know what I come up with ;-) |
This is what I came up with: 'Burton left behind his gothic universe for just one project, to bring to life the adaptation of a biopic.' |

: This may be the correct explanation, but I think you need to provide a non-literal translation

Pretty much impossible to do without more context; I think it's Asker's job to work the sentence as a whole!

Discussion
I'd also posted a Disagree to another Answer, and this was also removed, thereby further skewing the results. Very odd indeed!
You can see that in other questions that Verity has posted.
However, when asking for suggestions for a literary text (with your Literary Translator's hat on), I imagine that you'd rather die than use other people's ideas and expressions. Speaking for myself, on the rare occasions that I've asked for help with a literary text, it has always simpy been to point me in the right direction regarding possible interpretations of an expression, rather than a ready-made actual translation. That is how I understand "most helpful Answer". I'm sure there's a reason why they don't ask for the most "accurate" Answer!
And I do agree with Tony that the Asker should not expect to receive ready-made answers, especially with literary questions.
The director is Tim Burton, and the film is Big Eyes, based on the life of a real artist, which is a departure from his normal style.
I think Tony is right in his interpretation, but we need a translation.
