Same text as before, same context. This time, I am stuck with "prise en main". Not sure if it means "introduction" here.
"Objectif du test :
Observer la prise en main de l’outil (compréhension), sa facilité de mise en œuvre, la pertinence de son contenu et des actions identifiées grâce à l’outil
Valider la méthodologie ou y apporter des modifications si nécessaire"
Thank you all very much in advance!

: I almost feel like adding 'process of...'

Or familiarization process as I like to economis(z)e! "Prise en main" is always difficult for me to dig.

: I like 'familiarisation process' (nobody has come up with 'grasp' which is a metaphor for understanding!)

familiarize yourself / get familiar with
I'd approach it from such an angle. It fits the context.

: But this appears to be a third-person situation, so I don't think either construction using the 2nd person will be viable here.

hence my second suggestion - or did'nt you see it?

observe how the tool is handled
Hello,
That's how I read it.
la prise en main = the handling of it (taking it to" hand")
I hope this helps.

French term (edited):
observer la prise en main
observe how / the way people get used to
Or, if you feel that 'get used to...' implies too long a period of use, you might try something like '(first) approach the tool' or 'get to know' or 'start to use' — in any event, I think you'll produce a more natural-sounding result in EN if you replace the FR noun with an expression using an active verb.

: I'm clicking for the explanation and "approach" rather than the top answer which I don't really agree with!! I'd think it would be how people initially approach or use it - given away by the explanation in brackets: compréhension

Thanks, Julie! Yes, I agree, there are much better ways of wording it... as you say, I was just trying to give the general idea...

appropriate
As in "observing how (easily) users appropriate the tool (or resource or package....)"
"Appropriation" was a sort of enviro... buzz word a few years ago...

Discussion
The real question here is whether they are testing the tool or helping the user....
