My work always involves intensive human concentration. I don't leave anything to chance. I may have misunderstood the question. I thought it meant to include the translation itself. In that case, my answer stands. If it only means processing the assignment without the intervention of a PM, that might be a possibility.

That would be interesting to see.
I guess what is meant by translation process is what some big agencies and other organizations have in place to procure, receive, and pay for their translations. I do understand why when dealing with huge translation projects in several languages they need to automate the translation process, but personally I’m looking for some kind of human communication with my customers, even if more often than not is via email.

I worked with 2 clients with automated process, but that was absolutely inconvenient. The localization process requires a lot of interactions between translator and client, so communication with a human is a must for good result. | | | The question makes no sense | Sep 29, 2019 |
When the whole translation process is automated, this means that not the slightest human work is necessary, so that it should be obvious that no one works for a client where the whole process is automated. Could we have poll questions where the meaning is clear and unambiguous? Maybe this question refers to automation of project management. I work for several clients where the project management is highly automated. For example, a platform where translation jobs can be uploaded by the end client and are listed for all translators, and the first one who grabs it gets it, you just need to be qualified for the language pair. Other agencies have other platforms where the assignment of jobs is still done by human PMs (with the obvious advantage that the PM can assess the needed specialization for a job and assign translators and reviewers accordingly), but the delivery and billing process is more or less automated. I'm quite happy with some of the latter, since it saves me administrative work too. And automatic payments are obviously a good thing. ▲ Collapse | | | Marina Soldati Argentina Local time: 22:02 Member (2005) English to Spanish + ...
If by automated process you mean notifications of jobs to translator, reviewer and translator again. Two of my regular clients use online tools, notifications between PMs and translator/reviewer and queries and comments are handled automatically but there´s a lot of direct communication between PMs and translators via email too. | | | Mario Freitas Brazil Local time: 22:02 Member (2014) English to Portuguese + ...
An entirely automated translation process is something that does not exist. If it did, it would not be necessary to hire a translator. Some people think it exists, and they don't hire translators (and, of course, deliver lousy translations). Some people would say MTPE is a totally automated process. So what does the translator do?

Yes, if you mean: job posting, negotiating price/deadline, TM and uploading invoices, notifications online through their platform. I have 3 clients (agencies) with that kind of system. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Do you work for any clients where the whole translation process is automated?
