It depends on what you call an “online portfolio”. I’ve signed NDAs with most of my clients, which in some cases prevent me from even saying who I've been working for, but I translate quite regularly for a Portuguese weekly newspaper (“Expresso”) and the Portuguese version of a French monthly magazine (“Courrier International”) and with the agreement of the client I’ve selected a few examples to show to potential clients who visit... I also have a few samples on my Proz profile, all of which are from translations that were made publicly available. ▲ Collapse
NDAs signed with most clients be they agies or direct ones.
It has not really been necessary. Maybe my website does the job to some degree.

The way things stand at the moment, I'm lucky enough to be able to say that I don't really need any new clients. Perhaps if I was just starting out as a translator and needed to market myself I would consider preparing one, but today it's the least of my priorities. | | | Rebecca Garber Local time: 02:36 Member (2005) German to English + ... That's what client feedback is for | Sep 7, 2019 |
I have 125 positive reviews from client. I spent a lot of time and effort to get feedback from all my clients since 2010, and I got it. For every new client, I write it down in my Sticking Notes to get their feedback. This does not hurt the NDA's, since it is voluntarily provided by the client themselves. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Would you say you have a strong online portfolio for clients to check out?
