Source text - French Sandra était une jeune fille bien accoutumée, qui aimait regarder les étoiles qui brillaient dans le ciel en pleine nuit. Pour cela, elle faisait semblant de s'être endormie dans le silence de sa petite chambre, et lorsque la nuit était bien avancée, Sandra ouvrait les rideaux de sa fenêtre et, dès là où elle était, elle observait les astres lumineux. Parfois elle les comptait et donnait à son imagination pleine liberté pour représenter, en liant les étoiles les unes aux autres, les animaux dont son père lui avait raconté l'existence lorsque Sandra était un peu plus qu'un bébé - si petite, si déterminée comme elle était, elle savait déjà qu'elle allait devenir une personne importante.
Thibaut, son frère aîné, était, lui aussi, un jeune garçon qui avait hérité de la sensibilité de leurs grand-parents paternels : modérément recueillie, jamais déplacée. Cela n'empêchait pas à Thibaut d'être un peu brusque de temps en temps, sans pour autant avoir aucune intention de faire du mal à qui que ce soit. Il trouvait plaisir à faire des escalades sur les montagnes rocheuses, arriver à leur sommet et admirer l'esplanade et le vert de la végétation à leur pied.
Là, dans la solitude et l'émerveillement que lui donnait la beauté majestueuse des montagnes, il s'asseyait, ses jumelles dans ses mains, et visait les oiseaux dans le ciel : leur liberté et leur désinvolture, leurs ailes tout ouvertes pour être emportés par le vent, c'était une sensation unique et insaisissable.
Translation - English Sandra was a well-mannered girl, who liked to watch the starlit sky in the middle of the night. She would feign to have fallen asleep in her bedroom, as silent as it was, in order to rush to her quarter's window, open the curtains and behold the night sky's astroluminiscence.
Sometimes she would count the stars and, imaginatively, link them together by groups in her mind, so that she could represent the animals that her father used to tell her about, harking back to the years when she was a little older than a baby - as sure of herself as she was, she knew that her future would be promising.
Thibaut, his elder brother, was a boy who had inherited their dad's parents' sensitiviy: both withdrawn and composed. But that did not hinder Thibaut's random character jolts every now and then, whilst never would he misbehave intentionally with whomever he would encounter.
He nurtured a strong liking for climbing rugged mountains, heaving himself up to their summit in order that he could descry the green surrounding the mountains' threshold.
Atop the mountains, wrapped by a languid sense of solitude and by the wonderment of the beautiful sighting, he would spend time sitting and watching wild birds flying in the sky with his binoculars, the birds' wings spread widthwise to glide unladen by clutter matter: an unabashed sense of freedom and an unapologetic right to one's self are all he could think about now.
