However, the term "dénonciation" can have several meanings. I'm not in the habit of using WIkipedia for legal terminology, but this does give you a quick run-down of the possible meanings : https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dénonciation I'm not sure what the writer is meaning by "dénonciation" here, but from what you say, it looks as though he is "contesting" the amount. I would not say "reject" the amount, as that could be read to mean that he des not agree and is therefore refusing to accept the amount (i.e. will not cash the check, etc). I think "contest" is the clearest solution here. It is the term used in French too. Note that this is not "severance pay" which is a lump sum paid when being made redundant (indemnité de licenciement). Translating "solde pour tout compte" by "severance pay" would be a mistranslation. Bear in mind that someone who is being made redundant will (as a rule) be entitle to both severance pay (indemnité de licenciement) and his final pay check (solde pour tout compte). A "solde pour tout compte" is the final salary and any other monies due when a contract ends, (for whatever reason), payment in lieu of holiday leave that has not been taken, bonuses under collective agreements, etc. The procedure by which the amount can be contested varies according to whether or not the (former) employee signed the receipt.
