An American guy and a British guy are waiting for the lift:
- Amer: Are you waiting for the elevator?
- Brit: No, I'm waiting for the lift.
- Amer: Sir, it's "elevator".
- Brit: No, I'm sorry, sir, but it's "lift".
- Amer: No it's not, we in the US invented the "elevator".
- Brit: Sorry, but it's "lift" - we invented the language."

American: We drive on the right side of the road! (beaming)

Brit: Perhaps, but we drive on the correct side.

In memoriam
This matches another one... Jul 30, 2015

... I saw on Facebook recently. Here is my recollection of it:

A woman at the checkout line in a supermarket was chatting on her cell phone using a strange language. As soon as she finished the call, a man behind her said, "Hey, miss. We are in America, so it would be more respectful if you spoke English."

The woman replied, "Mister, I was speaking Navajo with my mother. If you want all people speaking English as the local language, go to England!"
